“Then God said (to Moses), ‘Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.’ He said further, ‘I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ “ Exodus 3:5-6
Where, or what, is Holy Ground to you?
Yosemite National Park is one of those places for me. It never ceases to take my breath away. Every visit there is something new to see and experience. Renee & I plan our visits such that there is no required racing about (although we don’t dawdle on our hikes). There is enough time to simply soak in the beauty. Interestingly, Jim Keogh’s favorite place in Yosemite is a spot we’ve never visited – Tuolumne Meadows. Just one more reason to go back!
But Holy Ground doesn’t have to be, and hopefully isn’t, a place far away and only accessible once every few years. It could be your back porch. Your respite in a hammock. At a dock on Lake Hartwell. In the Clemson Experimental Forest. A prayer closet or a comfy chair where you have your devotions. It’s a place where and a time when you can quiet the noises of the world and seek to “Be still, and know that I am God.” A time to listen for God’s voice. For God’s reassuring words of love. For God to speak to the deepest parts of you…
God’s peace & hope be with you this day.
